Edgar Allan Poe

Known for his macabre literary work,

Edgar Allan Poe was a lot more.

He haunted our imaginations

with a bird saying, “Nevermore.”

He criticized as an editor

in New York and Baltimore,

yet he still wrote as a poet—

while still being dirt poor.

Inspiration came in forms of

methodologies and folklore.

He wrote the gap between life and death

that generations adore.

A genius and artist;

his peers always ignored.

His grave in Baltimore,

Will forever hold his words
