Keeper of the Lights

Behind the drapes

of night,

stands a single candle,

Keeper of the Lights.

Stars marvel

at what they see.

A soul, braving the elements

risking mortality.

Keeper of the Lights,

“Help guide me!

I’m lost!

I can’t return to my family!”

The Keeper of the Lights,

speaks not a word.

Extending its hand,

to a voice hardly heard.

Keeper of the Lights,

growing brighter from the distance.

Your wick nearly snuffed,

yet, you remain persistent.

Reaching the door

of my home,

your light clinging to life.

With you, I’m never alone,

Keeper of the Lights.
